This notice explains what personal information Committed Bodies collects when you use committedbodies.co.za or contact the gym, why we collect it, and what your rights are under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
Who is responsible for your information
The responsible party is Committed Bodies, 65 Great North Road, Benoni, 1622, Gauteng, South Africa. Requests and questions about personal information go to Committed Bodies' Information Officer at accounts@committedbodies.co.za.
What we collect
- When you send the contact form: your name, email address and message. The form opens your own email app and sends the message from there; nothing is stored on this website.
- When you become a member or book a trainer: the details needed to run your membership and training programme, collected at the gym, not through this website.
- When you browse: nothing that identifies you. This site sets no cookies. Our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security, and page views are counted by Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and no personal identifiers. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address when the font file is fetched.
Why we use it
- To answer your enquiry and arrange a consultation or class.
- To run your membership and training, and to invoice you.
- To keep the website and our systems secure.
- To meet legal obligations, such as keeping financial records.
We do not sell personal information and we do not send marketing you did not ask for.
Who handles it for us
- Cloudflare hosts this website on servers around the world.
- Google Fonts serves the typeface used on the site.
- Uncloaked (uncloaked.co.za) builds and maintains the website as our operator under section 21 of POPIA, on our instructions only.
Where a provider stores information outside South Africa, it is bound by contract and its own privacy commitments to protect it, as POPIA section 72 requires.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to membership are deleted within 12 months. Member records and invoices are kept for five years after the last transaction, as South African tax law requires, and then deleted.
Your rights
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy.
- Ask us to correct or delete it.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
- Object to processing, including any direct marketing.
- Complain to the Information Regulator if you are not satisfied with our response.
Email the Information Officer at accounts@committedbodies.co.za. We respond within 30 days.
